Steelers acquire KR Rossum from Falcons - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

Willie Reid made the Steelers' final 53-man roster, but it looks like he will still be competing for a job.

The Steelers traded a conditional pick in next year's NFL draft to the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday for return specialist Allen Rossum.

Rossum, a 10-year veteran who can also play cornerback, figures to compete with Reid for kickoff and punt return duties.

He holds Falcons records for career kickoff returns (5,489 yards) and punt returns (1,723). Rossum, who has six returns for touchdowns during his career, had a 51-yard kickoff return in the Falcons' 41-38 win over the Steelers last season.

Reid, a second-year man, was the Steelers' primary kickoff and punt returner during the preseason.

He had been mostly lackluster before gaining 30 yards on a punt return in the Steelers' 19-3 win over the Carolina Panthers last Thursday.

isnt holmes a good KR

at the end of the season he was, but this is holmes year, he needs to focus on being our #2 WR, hes gonna have a huge year. Reid is a nasty KR, he seems a bit anxious so far....he needs a confidence booster, but rossum, former NFL fastest player was needed just in case and hopefully to teach him a few things. He replace chidi iwuoma who was a ST coverage monster but an awful corner, at least Rossum can play corner, just not very good
