Steelers re-sign Kemoeatu, Essex

Offensive linemen Chris Kemoeatu and Trai Essex signed their one-year contract tenders, the Steelers announced today. Kemoeatu signed for $1,141,7000, and Essex signed for $927,000.
Kemoeatu is entering his fourth season with the Steelers and is expected to replace Alan Faneca at guard. He was the team’s fifth-round pick in the 2005 draft.
Essex also is entering his fourth season with the team. He was the team’s third-round pick in the 2005 draft. He has appeared in 24 games as a backup at tackle and guard, starting five times in place of Marvel Smith in 2005. He also started at left tackle in last season’s playoff loss against Jacksonville.
