Former Steelers defensive end Dwight White, a member of the Steel Curtain defense and a player on all four of the Steelers’ Super Bowl teams of the 1970s, has
died at the age of 58.
The
Associated Press reported that White
died following surgery at a Pittsburgh hospital.
White, the Steelers’ fourth-round draft pick in 1971 out of Texas A&M-Commerce, scored the first safety in Super Bowl history and the first points ever for the Steelers in a Super Bowl when he sacked Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton in the end zone in Super Bowl IX.
