Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports James Harrison made it clear after a Steelers practice Tuesday that he won't change his mind about the team's one-day trip to Washington to meet President Obama as a reward for winning Super Bowl XLIII.
The All-Pro outside linebacker won't offer any apologies for a decision he said has nothing to do with politics or anything else.
"Really, I could care less about the reaction," Harrison said. "That's my decision and I'm sticking with it. I'm surprised they're making a big deal about it. 'Oh my, James Harrison isn't going to the White House, he must be a devil worshiper.' "
Harrison skipped the Steelers' 2006 visit to the White House.
This guy is a strange character. I guess I admire him for feeling so strongly about something like this, but the logic he uses to justify his absence is just downright foolish. Even Byron Leftwich is going to the White House and he isn't even a Steeler anymore.
