To be honest, I'll watch it if it's on, but I don't search it out. I also don't have a favorite team and really just look to see if anyone sticks out.
Since the fans don't really show up in droves, I've always wondered if the NFL should just bag the experiment and send the teams to smaller markets in the US.
I was a London Monarch fan back when the WLAF started. Liked the uni's and their style of play.
Yeah what ever happened to that team I thought it would be one that would last. London was the first city to host a NFL preseason game and now they will have a NFL reg game but that could not support a NFLE team?
I believe the league moved them and not a lack of support. If I remember things right (will look for details) but they were attendance leader most if not all of their seasons in WLAF/NFL-E.
Looking things up the WLAF London Monarchs were leaders in attendance. 40,483 in 1991 dropped to 21,901 in 1992. The return of the league in 1995 was ok with 16,343 (second in the league) but then the bottom dropped off. 12,500 to 10,300 to 5,900.
I always thought it was sad that the first team to win the championship was no longer around. Did the fans just loose interest or was there something else up?
