Default Nfl Ot

The NFL's overtime rule about the first to score points is in my opinion very stupid. I mean if a team gets lucky on one play the game is over and the other team doesn't get a chance to show if they can score. Imagine if the NCAA had adopted that rule, we would have never seen the behind the back handoff. In a higher level in the NFL however, the sky is the limit when it comes to trick plays in OT. I think if the NFL was to change that rule and put it like NCAA, the NFL would be a lot more exciting. (This is especially annoying in madden were your cbs and safeties always seem to blow coverages) What do you guys think? Should the OT first to score rule change, or should it stay the same?

it should either be a shootout like college....which is incredible and exciting (boise state/Oklahoma...wow). or even a full or reduced quarter.

if you don't want to lose in OT, then win in it in regulation. The way the NFL has had OT is a staple of the GAME. If they change it, it would be stupid, IMO.

Yeah I think that should be the way, it gives other team to match the other teams score (or beat) and the plays would be so much more exciting.

Well I mean, I see it as a positive change. I watch CFL and NCAA and it's crazy in OT... NCAA this year it was the boise state and oklahoma game just like K train said, in the CFL 2 years ago it was Aluettes and Eskimos.. I mean it makes the game more exciting and you would see a lot more crazy plays.

It also completely eliminates the possibility of a tie and takes away one more thing that makes the NFL a little more unique.

Who cares about a tie, that doesn't even happen often. No teams in the NFL tied this year, they should do what hockey did and instead of tie, keep playing until the other team can't match your score.

It does not completely eliminate ties, didn't your Eagles tie in the late '90s and when was the last tie in college. It is an outdated way to run an OT and the NFL is just to stubborn to change it, but maybe now that there is a new head honcho they'll actually consider changing it.
