in a way your are right superstar, but what he did on the field cannot be matched by many players, if you were take all of his accomplishments and records and put them against anyone else, it wouldn't even be close. he made the game fun to watch because you knew there was going to be a play where he did something special, every game, plus on top of that he was a gentleman and a respectful person. can't say that about many of today's players.
he played in a different time period. In todays league, every player is fast, strong, and good at what they do. the lineman are even lightning fast. You dont see many 70,80,90 yard td runs anymore like you did in the previous decades. There are countless playmakers in the nfl, but none of them had the same attitude that rice had.
6-2/230. He ran a 4.2 40, and averaged 5.2 yards a carry for his entire career! He never missed a game, and led the league in rushing EVERY year but one. He played before expansion, when every team had great defensive units. He played at a time, when closelines, and chop blocks were legal. Guys would punch him, kick him, step on his ribs, and even choke him! He was the only offensive weapon on his team, and every defense was stacked against him. He never ran out of bounds to avoid a hit, and I`ll say it again...he NEVER missed a game. He could run over you, or around you, and once he got passed the line, he was gone. He is also regarded as the greatest lacrosse player of all time. He played at a time when the NFL regular season was only 12 games, and it still took over two decades for anyone to break his all time yardage record. Don`t punish him for playing before your time. Instead, go look at the old clips. If you watch him play, you`ll know he was the greatest ever.
