The pushoff in the end zone for OPI was a call not often called, but it was a good call, cause it was indeed a penalty, regardless. As for the Steeler player not budging after the pushoff, it's sure funny how they were right next to eachother, and then miraculously there was instantly about 3-4 feet of separation. The WR wasn't Steve Smith, so you know he wasn't that damn fast. As for the holds, it wasn't the jersey, it was a choke hold, or head lock. They had their arm completely wrapped around his neck as he went by....OBVIOUS HOLDING! I've seen so many clips where they basically zoomed in on just Haggans as the guy's arm was wrapped around his neck. The Hassleback call was the only blatantly bad call in the game. As for Ben crossing the plane, it was as close as you can get, I'd say the ball was touching, or slightly across the plane, and then he was pushed back, and when he hit the ground he wasn't across the line, but that is irrelevant....it's where the ball went at one time, and that's all that counts. To compare the SB to the AFCC against the Colts is absolutely ridiculous. As I stated before, there wasn't one call in the SB that is comparable to that overturned INT in the AFCC. None were that blatant, except the meaningless call on Hassleback (which I agree is a horrible call, but not really that significant). The INT in the AFCC almost stole the game, literally, from the team who dominated the game till the refs took over....simple as that.
And gunner, you're truly clueless about Steelers fans. As stated before, watch their road games on TV. I saw it first hand in MN last year. Steelers' fans made up at least 1/3 of the crowd, and by the 3rd and 4th quarters when Vikes' fans had left, we were over 1/2 the crowd easily, maybe close to 2/3. It's like that EVERY week on TV. The Eagles' fans on the other hand just stay in Philly.
Obviously its a touchy call, but he did grab the sleeve, most of the time it wouldnt be called, i dont know why it was this time, same with the PI, but it is the rule and its insulting to say the steelers couldnt have won without the refs. The refs didnt block for willie, or tell defenders to bite on the trick play, or make ward rip a ball out of a defenders hand to convert on third and long. Or tell hasseslbeck to throw a pick in the redzone, or tell Jeremy Stevens to consistantly drop passes.
The Hasselbeck tackle was ridicualous, but the defense showed up and was playing well all game.
No call was worse than the polamalu int against the colts, anyone who says that wasnt a pick doesnt know anything about football.
Did'nt say Polamalu did'nt get screwed on that call, but the defender who got the holding call basically took a dive more than he was held. no one will convince me otherwise. neither am I saying the Steelers would'nt have won. but.....
I dont believe Steeler fans have the right to complain about bad referees, just be happy they gave you the timeout when the playclock was at zero. Although I do feel bad since you guys have probably spent more time trying to defend your win rather than enjoying being the champs.
Please explain yourself, because the SB wasnt that bad. Hasselbeck threw the picks and stevens dropped the passes, no bad call was really game changing.
Pass Interfernce-Since when does not moving the defender while pushing off not count as pushing off, obvious push off.
Holding-Since when does grabbing a LBs sleeve not count as holding.
TD-Since when does crossing the plain in mid air and being pushed back after the fact not count as a TD.
Tackle-Blatant call, just ridiculous he was making a tackle, but it wasnt game changing.
No one gives the defense any credit for dominating the offense and picking off hasselbeck in the endzone, nor does anyone give credit to the 3 huge plays that the steelers made including third and long to the 2 yard line, Randel el 50 yard pass, and 75 yard run. Did the refs do those? Now i relize the calls were questionable, but they all followed the rules and were legit. Now it has been over 6 months and mabey, just mabey it might be time to stop complaining.
You're wasting your breath Train. Anyone still b*tching about the refs is obviously too ignorant to listen. I mean come on man, that was over 6 months ago. Those people aren't worth the effort.
And, if case you didn't know - that video is BS. lol. No offense to anyone....but his knee was down when he poper the ball out. No possesion. =/ If you would of watched the game, the white hat explained it.
Alright I'm a Steeler fan from a neutral perspective:
-Pass interfence in the endzone a little weak but he did it right in front of the ref which made it more likely to be called
-Holding was a good call
-Hasslebeck block was blatently wrong
-On the Roethlisberger TD if you slow it down and zoom in you can clearly see the tip of the ball crossing the plane.
There were a lot of calls that were really close but in the end I think the refs got most of the calls right.
