Ya, I have to agree with you on this one. Plus, who would want to watch a NFL minor league team play? Last, I don't think it would work, because an NFL team has a roster of around 60 players, plus a practice squad. This may seem like a lot, and it is, but you need to have a first team going against something that is very similar to a first team, in order to be a good team. To use a cliche, you practice like you play. Minor leagues would only strech the talent level even further, not benefiting anyone.

It would benefit players that don't play.
The NFLE? I have not watched it or paid attention to it for years. AFL and AFL 2? Those are arena, and not NFL-style football. And, the CFL? Well, the CFL is good, but I do not see them as a farm league for the NFL. Only the NFLE comes close to that.

I don't know, maybe you are right, but I just think they would have already tried it, if they thought it would have any success. The NBA just put in an expirimental "developmental league", that is being used like minor leagues. Maybe if that is succesful, the NFL will try something similar.

MLB and the NHL have had farm leagues for decades. I live in a place where the only sports I get are the B-leagues. My baseball team is the Norfolk Tides, which are part of the NY Mets organization. My hockey team is the Hampton Roads Admirals, which are a part of the Chicago Blackhawks organization.
We had an AFL2 team here called the Norfolk Nighthawks. The team failed recently and is now defunct. However, I think that an NFL farm league would draw better attention. The Tides and the Admirals have both proven to be successfull. I think that is because people like to think that the players they are watching locally might make it to the big leagues and glory.

I don't see it happening. It would render the current draft pick system useless. What would you do, draft big name college players and then put them in a B-league team for a few years, obscure to the public? Locally, they may be heroes, not unlike your Norfolk teams, but the NFL is about success and fame on a national scale. The current system remains the reason it is the most glamorous sports league of any kind in the country. I still think they need some more teams though. As the world population increases, so does the number of talented players. We should act now to make sure they have a place to play...

I think that the NFL expansion would be a great thing. That means that football season will last longer. Hopefully atleast. More football games to watch. Heck yeah.

02 brings up a good point. Should the football season be longer. I think that the NFL should get rid of two preseason games and add two regular season games.

What was the name of the league that came out a few years ago? Lasted only one season? Vince McMahon was part owner? If they went into another league, anyone think they would last as long as the other league did?
