Hey guys. I am afraid I've become as obsessed over expansion ideas as Manster is with the draft. I've thought of a way to keep teams even, add a bunch of new teams without moving current ones, and still keep the current 16-game schedule. Laugh at me if you will, but if you think it's a good idea say so too.

The plan is to add a total of eight new teams. Both conferences will gain a new "Central" division. This will allow teams and divisions to remain even. The current schedule of 6 division and 10 nondivision games would remain in place, because there would still be 4 teams per division. The teams would be strategically placed in high-market areas that have successful college teams, but no NFL team, the plan being to give fans of the sport a higher-profile way to watch it. They are also placed in a way that will create rivalries between new teams and existing teams, because rivalries help to generate team spirit and sell tickets and merchandise. The new divisions are listed below, along with some team names that came to mind. For those of you who can't tell, new expansion teams will be listed in bold.

AFC
East: Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets

North: Buffalo Bills, Cincinatti Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers

Central: Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans

South: Birmingham Outlaws, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Antonio Gunslingers

West: Los Angeles Knights, Oakland Raiders, Salt Lake Sidewinders, San Diego Chargers

NFC
East: New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Virginia Beach Hammerheads, Washington Warriors

North: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings

Central: Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Vultures, Omaha Tornadoes, St. Louis Rams

South: Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

West: Arizona Cardinals, Portland Wolves, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks

To avoid confusion, that's Birmingham, Alabama; Los Angeles, California; San Antonio, Texas; Omaha, Nebraska; Portland, Oregon; Salt Lake City, Utah; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Virginia Beach, Virginia.

(Very poor photoshop graphic by stormdriver)

Again, tell me what you think, even if it involves laughing. Don't tell me I have too much time on my hands though. I already know that.

it looks good, but eight new teams would mean the NFL has a total of forty and forty just seems like to many. It would be nice to see LA and Los Vegas have teams though. Another question is are there even enough players in the league to fill up forty teams?

Well I dont think that you could add all the teams at once it would take several year. I cant believe you left out Oklahoma they have great football fans there and no pro sports team in the whole state. I know the NFL would not split up the Cowboys, Redskins and the Eagles. Also i do not think that they would split the Raiders, Cheifs, and Broncos up. Those teams have too much history together and too much national appeal.

What is this thing that you call D-R-A-F-T it sounds like something a person could waste several hours and days on.
