" His 14 rushing touchdowns in 1998 ranks third all-time in NFL history for a rookie running back, and his 17 total touchdowns also qualifies for third-most by a rookie, tied with Randy Moss' output in 1998. In 1999 Taylor set the NFL postseason record for the longest touchdown run (90 yards). The following year, despite being hobbled early in the season, Taylor recorded nine consecutive 100-yard games, which is the third-longest streak ever, only behind Barry Sanders' and Marcus Allen's respective streaks of 14 and 11. He led the league that year in yards rushing per game (107.6). On November 12, 2000 Taylor rushed for 234 yards and four touchdowns against the Pittsburgh Steelers. At the time it was the 12th-most yards in a single game in NFL history, and it remains the most ever at Three Rivers Stadium. Coincidentally, Taylor also set the record for most rushing yards at Heinz Field on December 16, 2007 in a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. His 4.7 career yards per carry average ranks 3rd all-time, behind only Jim Brown and Barry Sanders and his 85.5 rushing yards per game average is 6th all-time."

i gave my vote to Fred Taylor, had he not had those early injuries in his career and played in a bigger market, he would be a household name today, its just a shame that this years Pro Bowl was his 1st, people are sleeping on one of this eras best

I'm leaning toward Fred, but i still haven't decided yet. Perry averaged 5 yard a carry for goodness sakes. That's insane.

Freds 4.7 isnt bad either though, Perry played 15 years and had almost 10,000 yards, Fred is going on his 10th and has over 10,000, thats insane

Fred Taylor? Are you kidding me, this guy isn't even a top 5 back in the NFL right now, and probably isn't the best back on his own freaking team. He has never been the best back in the NFL at any point in his career, so how can he be the best of all time.

You guys must remember Perry only played 14 games one season, when every season was 14 games and almost every play was a running play thus the opposing D almost knew every play would be a run. Not like todays wide open 16 games seasons.
Perry's longevity and durability when not much protective equiptment was worn is very impressive to say the least.

The thread says greatest RB, and Fred Taylor isn't the greatest RB of his era, and Perry was, so the answer to the question is Perry. That's like putting McNabb in the greatest QB of all time discussion, he isn't the best of this era, so how can he be in the best all time discussion?

Well Lenny Moore was probably the second best RB in his ERA, but in the other thread people pick Thurman hands down. Thurman was a great runningback, but he played with amazing players in his era, and he was not the best of them. So?
