Prior to Sunday, the last time the Chargers had lost a football game was on October 22 in Kansas City. Following the defeat, running back LaDainian Tomlinson vowed that his team would bounce back, and they did so by finishing the regular season with 10-consecutive wins.
The magnitude of the loss was bigger this time, but the promise was the same.
“We’re going to be back,” Tomlinson said Monday. “This is something that is disappointing, but I guarantee you that next year, we’re going to see the same teams and I believe we’re going to be one of those teams competing for a Super Bowl.”
In the midst of heartache, players were visibly disappointed Monday as they met with their coaches and went through their end of year physicals, but each discussed the many encouraging events that took place during the best regular season in Chargers history.
