It's almost 2 a.m., San Diego Chargers. Do you know where your star running back is?
On one particular late night/early morning this week, LaDainian Tomlinson was at Qualcomm Stadium, darting and dashing, perfecting his spin move and straight-arm after taking screen passes from Philip Rivers.
Actually, Tomlinson was filming a Nike commercial in which acclaimed director Michael Mann – think “Miami Vice” and “Crime Story” on television, “Heat” and “The Insider” in theaters – takes fans behind Tomlinson's darkened eye shield for a journey through defenders.
The short film, which includes appearances by fellow Chargers Antonio Gates, Shawne Merriman and Rivers, debuts in theaters Aug. 4 and on television Aug. 10. It's not the first time Tomlinson has taken part in a Nike commercial, but it is the first time he has been the focal point, with a storyline developed specifically for him.
