The time has come once again for the annual ranking of the San Diego Chargers’ ten most important players. When this tradition began four years ago, it was a challenge to come up with ten players worthy of any sort of distinction. Now, it is almost impossible to trim the list without doing an injustice to several deserving players.
Good to see that scout recognizes how vital D-lineman are to a 3-4
Ive been saying for a while, 3-4 DE's may be the hardest position to fill. very few players fit the mold of a 3-4 end and have the athetsism to make plays. Guys that are 6'6, 300 LBS with the athletesism be disruptive are rare
I was expecting Merriman to be higher, although i'm wondering how he'll do this year without Wade Phillips.
Shouldnt be any different, they are still running the same style of 3-4. Remember Ted Cottrell was Phillips DC in Buffalo, so he knows that defense as well as anyone.

agreed, Olshansky to me is more of a space filler, Williams is can get to the QB which is rare for a 3-4 DT, and Castillo has potential to be a great pass rusher
I was thinking Shawn Merriman would be #2 behind Ladanian Tomlinson. I think he deserves to be higher than five at least. Probably third or fourth. I like the defensive lineman picks though.
