Default Chargers Want Titans QB Volek?

Titans' Volek appears most likely candidate
By Jim Trotter

In case you haven't heard, the Chargers are the only team in the league that doesn't have a quarterback who has started an NFL game.

And in case you didn't know, the front office is trying to change that.

Sources familiar with the situation said the Chargers were one of two finalists in the running to sign veteran signal-caller Kerry Collins, the 12th-year pro who was released by the Raiders in the offseason.

San Diego was nosed out at the tape when Tennessee offered something San Diego would not, namely a chance for playing time. But the story doesn't end there.

looks like the Titans hold the cards and Volek will stay in Tennesee unless they get a QB in the trade.

The Chargers don't have jack in the way of QBs for trade though?

they dont need Volek. we are gonna have to live and die with Rivers. that decision was made when they let Brees go.

Typically teams have 3 QBs. If Volek goes they're down to two.

If they are using Volek as a power trade, they really only need a warm body to set in the 3 spot on the depth chart. Collins is pretty durable and Young is a scrambler so he wont get too beat up so the chance of needing a number 3 is slim. Volek would be worth a bottom feeder and a 3rd round pick in my book.

Spud I agree. They should have kept Feeley. Maybe they needed to free up some $$$?
LB it doesn't make sense does it? Cut Feeley then go after Volek?

Well IMO Volek is a better QB. From the small amount of play I have watched of him he seems like a Trent Green. Hes got the build and the arm and the accuracy. If Mcnair would have missed a full season and he played a full one he would have been gone last year or pre draft this spring. he will be a good starter if he gets the chance. In his only full start he had 295 2tds and no int and hit over 60%. he was playing ok in the pre season given the short amount of time he was in. The last pre season game he played 1 qtr and had like 145 yds and no ints and hit 70%.
