Since the day he left in 1991, Charlie Joiner has been itching to get back to San Diego. After 16 years of trying, he returned home Wednesday as the Chargers hired the team’s all-time leader in receptions to coach the club’s wide receivers.
“I’m just glad to be back in San Diego because some of those other places were real cold,” said Joiner, who spent the last seven years with the Kansas City Chiefs and the previous nine in Buffalo. “San Diego is my home, and I will always be a Charger.”
