Tomlinson swings into action for community
Quote:
While he brings San Diegans a lot on the field, San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson hit the golf course last week as his "Touching Lives Foundation" hosted its seventh annual celebrity golf tourney.
Tomlinson, who recently agreed to a restructured deal that will keep him with the Bolts for several years to come, was the star attraction last Friday afternoon at the Maderas Golf Club. The golfing event brought out several current and former Chargers, along with San Diego natives and former NFL stars Terrell Davis (Denver) and John Lynch (Tampa Bay).
Proceeds from the event go towards a number of community programs Tomlinson takes on during the year. One of those events was the youth football camp he hosted over the weekend at San Diego’s Hoover High School.
Tomlinson's "Touching Lives Foundation" assists community members during the season, including giving tickets to children for home games and providing food and gifts during the holidays.
It is no surprise that Tomlinson has garnered a number of awards for his on and off the field accomplishments, including the Walter Payton award, honoring one of the game's greatest men both on and off the field.
While we oftentimes hear news about all the bad things athletes do in this day and age, here's one story that shows just what good they can do.
For that, LaDainian Tomlinson definitely scores a touchdown.
