Mild AFC West turning into wild AFC West?
Quote:
The upcoming draft is believed to be the most anticipated in Missouri since the Chiefs moved to Kansas City.
They pick third, their highest selection ever. But the real reason for the excitement is Pioli, credited as being the co-architect of this decade's New England Patriots dynasty before being hired by the Chiefs in January.
Pioli and new Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, formerly the Patriots offensive coordinator, who has already put his stamp as the policy driver in Denver, head into their first drafts in charge with much anticipation.
Along with a new regime in Oakland, under first-year (official) coach Tom Cable and a new defensive staff, they comprise a tide of change in the AFC West and signify a possible new era in the division that has been rather tame of late.
From San Diego, where he has engineered the team that has won three straight AFC West titles and four of the past five, Chargers General Manager A.J. Smith is watching.
