maybe eventually, but not right away unless they are running two TE sets to start the game. People don't realize how raw most rookies are. He has some problems with his great skills. He has problems with defensive guys at the line. even though he is enormous he gets tangled up esaily sometimes, also when there is a rusher he will tend to run by the rusher without hitting him allowing them a full forced rush to the QB. He needs to learn a ton of plays and how his teammates work not to mention the speed of the game is completely different along with new coaching styles and a new ball. TE's take time and I can only think of Keith Jackson to do anything in his rookie year and even he barely scored that many TD's

What about Shockey he had 74 catches for 894 yards or Gonzalez he had 33 catches for 368 and 21 of his catches went for first downs. Todd Heap started six games his rookie year and played in all 16. Rookie TEs do make an impact and with the skills Davis has he should too.

I think the only difference is that the 49ers have a guy they can go to if Davis isnt ready. Eric Johnson is an above average TE.

Davis' speed and strength helped in determining how much to pay him. He probably will be worth that and more in the near future. Now it's getting him accustom to the game's speed and intensity at this level.

I believe his first reception of his NFL career was a TD.
