that mop up game against the Oilers, er Texans or whatever they call themselves...anyways, he had 3 or 4 TD's in the 4th quarter and 2 of them were little 2-yard Td's. in '91, I think Irvin's shortest TD was 10 yards or something...oh well.

For the Giants:
- S Will Demps: He's been solid, but nothing spectacular. Contrary to what most told me and other Giants fans about Demps, his tackling has been inconsistant at best, and his coverage has been above average. We couldve done a lto worse at safety.

- OLB LaVar Arrington: I think youve gotta hold judgement on this one. He was starting to come into his own the same game he went own with a season ending injury.

- OLB Brandon Short: Before getting hurt, Short was doing an EXCELLENT job at his position, sacks, tackles, stuffing the run, decent in coverage. And he's making the vet minimum. A++ Signing.

- CB Sam Madison: This is an iffy signing. I dont think anyone with the Giants or following the Giants expected to get the Sam Madison that was part of that great Miami defense and secondary where he was paired with Patrick Surtain in the early 2000's. He's had some moments where he's looked crappy but he's done well and still plays well enough to be a good #1 corner in this league. He's made some nice INT's this season, and that's more than I can say for anyone else this year or anyone we had last year in the secondary.

- CB R.W. McQuarters: This guy is another one like Short. Slated to be a backup, no one expected much, maybe some contributions on special teams, maybe some work in certain defensive packages. He's really held his own, like Madison he's created a few nice turnovers that we've lacked in years past, and overall he's been really solid in coverage and tackling. He's yet to do what we initially signed him for though and that's give the special teams a spark.

- DB Jason Bell - Didnt really expect him to make the team over Quentin Harris but he did. He's versitale and has filled in nicely whenever our depth has been tested in the secondary. He showed his true colors last week, hurting his arm and finishing the game, then leaving the stadium in a cast. He said he'd play next week right after the game.

None of our signings have been busts this year, they havent been overly productive or anything but

so, let me get this straight.... the Giants signed 6 FA's on defense and the skins signed 2... yet the skins are the team that is labled "the team that turned over it's entire roster on defense"

only 3 of those players were starters(or at least intended to be starters) and nothing was guaranteed for Will Demps, he had to earn his spot.

I've heard that. And on the subject of Randle El. That guy was a good signing was he worth the money? maybe not but he's done well here and with Campbell in now we should see him put up some more numbers. Brandon Lloyd was meh. Carter and AA suck. I didn't see anyone mention Hutchinson signing for the vikings. That was great signing imo the guy is making chester taylor look like a pro bowler. He practically single handedly turned that running game around.

wow, guess you dont read the paper, internet, or this board much

the expression has been said about them on both sides all season... yet they only sign 2 on offense and 2 on defense... everyone said they signed the "big time big name FAs to big deals and had there anual roster overhaul".... they signed 2 role players on defense and 2 rplayers on offense (and ARE is punt ret too)
only

AA is the one I dont like (I COULD CARE THE **** LESS ABOUT THE MONEY ANY PLAYER MAKES - IT HAS NEVER, EVER KEPT THEM FROM SIGNING FAs, PERIOD, DESPITE 1,000,000,000 STORIES AND POSTS TO THE CONTRARY) Snyder has the Cash on Hand to pay the guaranteed money and chooses to do so... they have had as much as 20 million in "dead cap" and still signed FA they wanted, even made the PO last year with 16 million in dead cap.

Performance matters.... Gibbs wanted "role players" over the super star FA and thats why they signed the players they did.... has is worked out so far? No, but they are also young and have many more years ahead of them, which is also a change from the 2000 signings

I'm online all the time, especially here, and it's ALWAYS arguments about the money. I, quite frankly, couldn't give two ****s about how many FAs the Skins bring in, all I ask is,what the hell is Snyder giving Archuletta so much money for?

How does one consider Arculetta, Carter, and Randle El to be "roleplayers" when they were paid as if they were, in fact, "superstar FAs"

Anyway, I was going to list more but I thought that is was under the radar signings that have paid dividends? Which is why I didn't like people like Hutch.

and my how that 4-7 team is performing.

think about it from a non-redskins fans perspective (if possible).

if AA, carter and twaan were brought in to be "role players" why on god's green earth would you pay them like superstars?..as each of them has a contract worth $30M or more which is way above average market value when you take into consideration their performance relative to the rest of the league at their respective positions.

lets do some comparative analysis. derrick burgess leaves the eagles for the raiders in '05 to become more than a role player @ 5 years $17.5 M. since then derrick burgess has 24.5 sacks in 25 games..pretty damn impressive. carter signs a deal to be (as you've suggested) a role player @ 5 years $30 M. his output? 2 sacks in 11 games. brutal.

my beef with the skins and snyder's frivolous off-season spending is it sets a horrible precedence for the rest of the league and soon to be free agents (and coaches for that matter as what they paid gregg williams and al saunders is just ludicrous).....and don't think players don't think like this as when ray lewis signed his big deal w/ the ravens, he said something to the effect of "brian urlacher can thank me for making him a very rich man" as he re-set the market w/ his deal at that time.
