Thumbs up

i was browsing through my FFL leagues free agent wr list (before i pulled a trade for larry fitz) when i saw antwaan randle el near the bottom of the page. i'll be the first to admit that i was miffed when the bears were outbid for him on the open market in which the redskins trumped the bears offer of $18M with an offer of $31M.

i then did some crude analysis.

twaan has 20 receptions and 28 punt returns so far. that works out to $645,833 a touch (through 11 games). what a bargain danny

what other nfc free agent signings with high hopes fell short of expectations?

or

on the flipside, what under the radar signings did your team make that are paying dividends so far?

i'll wait for skins fans to weigh in on this one...but i see nothing about his stats that justify making him the highest paid safety in the nfl, that's for damn sure.

Julian Petersen on the flipside. He wasn't expected to be hot after his injury, but he's having the best year of his career with us.

Apart from Redskins signings, obviously, Vanderjagt would qualify for this discussion.

As far as the other end of the spectrum, Chester Taylor, I thought he'd go well, but he's been, with the exception of some fumbles, exceptional on the Vikings.

Don't look now but the artist known as T.O not only has lasted longer in Dallas then 90% thought he would but has been the perfect team mate and quiet as anyone could possibly be the last 5 weeks.

Oh, and he has found himself 11th in receptions, 11th in yards and 3rd in TD's on pace for 100+ receptions, 1100 yards and 12 TD's.

you sound like Philly fan TO's first year there (you smell like Philly fan too)

99% of everyone said he would last the first year and implode the second... it's his "MO" and lets see wha-happens if Romo turns Homo, how great a "team mate" he becomes

as far as AA goes, he doesnt seem to fit GW's scheme (at least all the cover 2 they are running this year) and I wish they would cut him (at little known fact is that AA's SB bonus was tiered and only 5 mil up front and another 5 next year -- so if they cut him they are only out 5 mil not 10...)

and how many drops? but ya he has been a good addition, and much better teammate than anyone thought

Julian Peterson has been worth the money so far, he has been big as a pass rusher, and in coverage, he isnt putting up huge numbers in tackling, but that happens when you play next to tatupu.

Drew Brees has got to be the biggest and best NFC signing, he is money.

The Shaun Alexander re-signing got off to a rocky start, but he reminded us why we paid up last night, hopefully he can continue that.

Edgerrin was sent to Arizona to die, where all RBs do, and he has fared no better than others, his YPC is ugly, i feel bad for him really. However much of the blame can be put on the O-line, if an elite back like edge cant succeed, who can? LT is the only one that comes to mind, who has traditionally had a sub par line.

All of the Redskins signings, Archuleta, Andre Carter, Randle El, havent been huge. Randel El has been Ok, havent really heard anything about carter, archuleta has struggled as well as the defense as a whole.

Arrington was doing pretty decent in NY til he got hurt.

those are the big ones that come to mind
