Default The Art of Watching Star Players Walk...

Are you kidding me? Nolan says he's not using the fanchise tag on Peterson because "no one player is bigger than the team." Seems to me Peterson IS the team, at least at the moment.. Alex Smith was a wasted 1st pick, they have NO running game whatsoever, and now they watch as the best defensive threat they have calmly walks out the door, on to fame and a Pro Bowl with a better team. The Jets have at least one contender for the 1st overall pick in the 2007 Draft now... STUPID...

I have to disagree. Yes Peterson is talented, but to franchise him at 9mil would be stupid. That is half of their cap space. They guy was offered a great contract last year and his agents, whom I affectionately call the PUTZ ONS said no.

HMM.15 mil signing bonus, annual pay right in line with Ray Lewis and they turned it down. Some one will overpay, but in this era of free agency you need to build your team with the draft first, then add pieces. There is no LB in the world worth 9 mil per season.

As for Alex Smith, lets make thta judgement after 2 or 3 seasons. They had little offensive firepower for him to work with last year. Believe me nobody suffered through last year more than me, I watched all those losses and to be honest they were pretty close in a lot of games.

We will see what happens.

I know how you feel. Your team ain't the only one that went 4-12, and our losses were mostly close ones too. Get a helmet!!

Where is all this 9 million a season coming from?

from what I understand the franchise tag is the average of the top 3(maybe 5) paid guys at the position.

Because he has been franchised 2 times it escalates it to the 9 mill figure. Just can't do that on a LB.

On a side note, Stormdriver, my brother lives in Green Bay and I must say it is an interesting place to go. Haven't had the luxury to catch a game as you can imagine ticks are tough to get.

Maybe this season.

If you go to one game, you'll be a fan. I'm from Seattle, never lived in WI, but that's all it took for me..
