I have to disagree. Yes Peterson is talented, but to franchise him at 9mil would be stupid. That is half of their cap space. They guy was offered a great contract last year and his agents, whom I affectionately call the PUTZ ONS said no.
HMM.15 mil signing bonus, annual pay right in line with Ray Lewis and they turned it down. Some one will overpay, but in this era of free agency you need to build your team with the draft first, then add pieces. There is no LB in the world worth 9 mil per season.
As for Alex Smith, lets make thta judgement after 2 or 3 seasons. They had little offensive firepower for him to work with last year. Believe me nobody suffered through last year more than me, I watched all those losses and to be honest they were pretty close in a lot of games.
We will see what happens.
