As expected, the 49ers officially waived wide receiver Johnnie Morton and cornerback Ahmed Plummer on Thursday according to the official 49ers site. The team also waived defensive end Chris Cooper.

Morton, a 12-year veteran, was signed by the team prior to the 2005 season to bring some veteran leadership to the wide receiver position. Despite being completely healthy, Morton was inactive for the final two games of the 2005 season.

Plummer has had an injury plagued career with the team since being drafted in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He missed the final 13 games of the 2005 season after undergoing a minor surgery to remove bone chips. He has played just 9 games in the past two seasons. Plummer was one of two first round picks by the 49ers in 2000. The other player was Julian Peterson, who will become a free agent and will likely be signed by another team. Plummer's departure will save the team $1 million in cap space.

Cooper injured his shoulder during training camp and spent the 2005 season on injured reserve. He was originally a sixth round draft pick by the Raiders in 2001.

Coin flip will take place on Friday or Saturday

A coin flip will be held either Friday or Saturday at the scouting combine in Indianapolis to determine whether the Oakland Raiders or San Francisco 49ers will pick sixth in April's draft. The loser will choose seventh in the first round, with the teams alternating spots in subsequent rounds.

I'm more surprised about Plummer I thought he was going to be a star, I guess money was just too much to keep him.
