SANTA CLARA – Mike Nolan was reluctant to talk about a Wednesday report that said 49ers owner Denise DeBartolo York is leaning toward adding a strong general manager to the 49ers' front office.
As it stands, the 49ers have no GM. Scot McCloughan runs the team's personnel department while Lal Heneghan handles league matters. Nolan, however, has final say on all football decisions.
"The decisions I make are not one-man decisions," Nolan said. "They are team decisions. If you are a dictator in that role, you better know more than most."
The story in Wednesday's San Francisco Chronicle said DeBartolo York "promised that big changes are coming in the offseason," including the likely hiring of a GM who would strip Nolan of his personnel duties.
"There'll be a time and a place to speak about that in January," Nolan said.
He said he had no conversations with the Yorks about front-office changes but that he was willing to "do what's best for the 49ers."
