Default Starting QB Job Up For Grabs

Quote:
New offensive coordinator Mike Martz reiterated Wednesday that the 49ers' quarterback competition is "wide open."

"I could care less about last year," Martz said. "It has no bearing on anything to me. We're starting over and let's go." Recently re-signed Shaun Hill will battle Alex Smith for the job beginning with minicamps. Smith, who's recovering from shoulder surgery, is expected to be healthy by mid-March.

it's not smith's fault that Martz didn't draft him. I think he can perform well with Martz. QB development takes time

I still see Dilfer as our starting QB long as Nolan is our coach. Sad, isn't it?

Smith did find as long as Turner was there. Martz if I am not mistaken is part of the Turner tree of coachs. The only problem is that Martz seems likes he wants to use "His" guy someone he brought in. I would not be surprised to see them go after some one in the draft in the mid to late rounds.

We went from cutting Dilfer to maybe starting Smith, or JT O Sullivan. Looks like another dismal year and Nolan is the fall guy. I don't care if Nolan does get fired, but seeing my team suck every year is becoming a fast turn off and I got to pop these:

And ride around on this:

If he can turn him into Joe Montana/Troy Aikman, I'm all for it.
