According to the Rock Hill Herald, the San Francisco 49ers are one of the teams said to be in the running for Carolina Panthers LB Will Witherspoon. He will become an unrestricted free agent March 6.

The 25 year old Witherspoon was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2002 NFL Draft. His bestyear was 2004 when he had 103 tackles and 3 sacks. He has 354 career tackles, 8 sacks and 7 interceptions. His salary last season was approximately $1.4 million.
