Seahawks Matt Flynn claims he doesn’t regret signing with Seahawks

Quote:
When he was a free agent in March, Matt Flynn had two teams poised to make him their starting quarterback, the Seahawks and Dolphins. At least, he thought both teams were poised to make him their starting quarterback.

As it turned out, Flynn went to Seattle, which then drafted Russell Wilson, who then beat Flynn out for the starting job. Flynn is now a backup who has yet to play in a regular-season game for the Seahawks. But Flynn says he has no regrets.

“I try to have the motto of living life with no regrets,” Flynn told the Tacoma News-Tribune. “I wouldn’t take anything back. I think I look back at the things I looked at, and the personal things I decided on, and I think I wouldn’t take anything back. I don’t have any regrets about it, but it was a tough decision, for sure.”

With the Seahawks playing at Miami on Sunday, Flynn may think to himself, “I’d be starting if I signed here.” And he’s probably right: Although it’s also possible that the Dolphins still would have drafted Ryan Tannehill, and that Tannehill would have beaten Flynn out, Dolphins coach Joe Philbin seemed to like Flynn enough from their days together in Green Bay that Philbin wanted to make Flynn his starter in Miami.

Instead, Flynn is planted firmly on the bench, and probably not going anywhere. It’s good to live life with no regrets, but it’s hard not to think that, deep down, Flynn will spend Sunday in Miami wondering what might have been.
