KIRKLAND – With rumors bubbling up all over the NFL, the Seattle Seahawks announced the re-signing of free agents Will Heller and Josh Parry to multi-year deals Monday.
Heller, 26, played in every game last season, primarily at tight end, and the 6-6, 260-pound tight end also doubled as a fullback in light of injuries to Mack Strong and Leonard Weaver. A four-year veteran from Georgia Tech who was originally signed by Tampa Bay before signing with the Seahawks last spring, Heller had four receptions for 32 yards and a touchdown during the regular season. He also played in both playoff games – grabbing three passes for 20 yards in the Divisional Playoff game at Chicago – both career playoff-highs.
Parry was a different story. Acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles just before the season when Weaver suffered a season-ending high ankle sprain, Parry played in eight games as a reserve for the Seahawks - occasionally served as a blocking back - and was a key contributor on special teams. But the 6-2, 250-pound fullback suffered a sprained foot at mid-season, and on Nov. 29 he was placed on injured reserve. Parry, 28, was signed by the Eagles as a free agent rookie out of San Jose State in 2004.
