With rookies reporting to training camp Thursday, the Seattle Seahawks made sure all are signed and ready to go for the first workout Sunday.
The last two draft picks to sign – Josh Wilson and Baraka Atkins – finalized their deals Thursday morning.
It’s the first time since 2003 that all of the Seahawks’ draft picks signed before the first day of camp.
Wilson, a cornerback out of the University of Maryland, was selected in the second round – the Seahawks’ highest draft pick this year.
The 5-foot-7, 187-pounder was the sixth cornerback taken in the draft. As a senior with the Terrapins, he was an honorable mention all-Atlantic Coast Conference performer. In his four years with Maryland, Wilson had 157 tackles, two interceptions, 25 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two recovered fumbles and three blocked kicks.
Atkins was one of two fourth-round picks for the Seahawks. The 6-4, 278-pound defensive lineman was a game-changer for the Miami Hurricanes, lining up at tackle or end. During his four-year career with the Hurricanes, Atkins racked up 175 tackles with 18 sacks and 29.5 tackles for loss. He recovered three fumbles, including one he returned 52 yards for a touchdown.
To make room on the roster, the Seahawks waived running back Kenny James.
