Seattle barely got past Detroit. Calorina was up-ended by the Atlanta Falcons. St. Louis looked like the best team, while Denver looked like a 2-14 team. It's Week 1! None of this means anything. Last year, after week 1, it looked doubtful if the Seahawks would break .500. The Panthers lost to the lowly Saints. New England and Philladelphia were well on their way to another Super Bowl game. But none of this turned out to matter. I believe that week 1 is pretty much halfway between preseason and regular season. This is the first full game for the starters in half a year. Bad teams come out hungry for an early win to maybe jump-start the season. Teams like Seattle and Carolina are over-confident and thus have trouble. But this is just the first game. The real action doesn't start until weeks 2 or 3, and good teams separate from bad ones around week 7 or 8. Until then nothing can be said about any team. Seattle was challenged by Detroit, but I bet you $100 that had this game been a week later, the score would be 30-3 Seattle. Carolina lost, but they're still going to go deep in the playoffs. What I'm mostly saying is don't judge good teams by the first couple of games. Wait a little bit, and see if it's really a bad season, or just a slow start.

1 loss can be the difference between a wildcard berth and missing the playoffs, all 16 games mean something.
Thats not what he meant. Of course every game means something. He was just saying you can't say a team is bad after one game. And same with sayinga team is really good. You have to wait for the season to progress before you make any judgements. Well, unless you're talking about the Raiders or the Packers.
