It was 20 years ago this week that unassuming, soft-spoken Steve Largent was the hottest sports guy in Seattle. All you had to do was read a local newspaper because he was writing a column called, "Diary of a Hero." The label probably made him blush.
On Oct. 6, 1986, the Seattle Seahawks' wide receiver caught a pass in his 128th straight game to set an NFL record. It was the perfect record for Largent because it stressed reliability. When you thought about Largent, a star from 1976 to 1989, consistency rather than flamboyance came to mind first.
