ESPN

With the clock ticking toward a Friday 4 p.m. ET deadline for striking a deal, league sources confirmed for ESPN.com that New England Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch has reached agreement with the New York Jets and, as sources tell ESPN.com's Michael Smith, the Seattle Seahawks on a long-term contract that meets his demands

But neither team, the sources acknowledged, has been able to come to an agreement with the Patriots on compensation for the four-year veteran. And without the second half of the deal in place, the deadline could pass without a trade, and again force Branch to decide whether to extend his camp-long holdout.

damn BEARS

why is there an eagles icon?
anyway, michael Smith reports NE is seeking a 1st and a mid, or maybe 2 1st, which would never happen. I would kill the hawks if they did that AND gave him a reggie wayne type deal. Although i do think he would be a great fit here. i would give up a 2nd max

Yeah **** that, in no way is he worth a first and a mid, Maybe if we gave a first and GOT a mid, he'd kickass in NY but thats a price to pay.

you really didnt think Angelo was going to give him 7-8 mill a year and give up draft picks to try to land him? I didnt....Besides one of the Boston papers/Morty said that the pats will most likely match any offer given to Branch anyways to get him in before the season starts.....

So i guess the Pats plan backfired. They didnt expect anyone to offer Branch the kind of $$$ he wanted but two teams did. That just gives Branch better leverage.

I dont know whether i agree with Branch of not. I dont like the idea of holding out for a new deal, but at the same time, the Pats are trying to keep from paying him his market value.

I believe what Branch should do is report to camp and play out this season. He has a deal in place and needs to stick to it. Than, next season, he can go ahead and hold out since, odds are, he will be tagged. Of course, the franchise tag is probably worth more than anything Branch would get next year with a normal contract.

I don't think that Branch is quite as good as people think. I see him as a solid receiver but not really a true number one.
