Tatupu is a second round pick, whom everyone said was a reach.

But I'll agree that the Hawks have done a fairly poor job with the first round picks the last couple of years. They've been lucky to get good players elsewhere in the draft though.

2003- First Round Pick Marcus Trufant (good pick), got Ken Hamlin in the 2nd.

2004- First Round Pick Marcus Tubbs (don't know how he's doing), got Michael Bouleware in the 2nd

2005- First Round Pick Chris Spencer (year or 2 away from starting) got Lofa Tatupu in the 2nd, and LeRoy Hill in the 3rd.

I also like their first two picks from this year, Kelly Jennings and Darryl Tapp.

I actually like the trade for Seattle. Branch,Jackson,Burleson,Engram,Hackett is a decent WR corp.

I think drafting linemen and DB's in the 1st round is actualy a very sound stragity for a football team. Marcus Tubbs was a project with talent and a need pick when we got him and his presance has allowed us to run a platoon style D-line that led the league in sacks last year.So that pick is working out just fine. If Tobeck wasn't a pro-bowler Spencer would be starting right now and he has the versatility and ability to play any interior position on the line, a great pick that will pay off for years to come. I thought Jennings was too small to go up against the big WR's in our division, but he is looking good, I wanted Chad Jackson out of Florida.

Nate Burelson has looked out of synce and unimpressive so far in my opinion. I know people will be quick to point out his 36yd catch on the 1st drive , but where did he go for the rest of the game. D- Jack had a nice play where he reversed the field, but if you look closely he had no burst on that play, if he was 100% he woulda gon to the house.

Hass didn't have enough time to throw deep in the game and thats where Burleson was running. Hass had the Lions front seven all over him.

he was running around allot and dumping it off to Mack a little too often. I think we need to get stevens back. Without a big guy our Offense stalls in the opponents territory, last year we had Stevens and Visciouse, they were open in the middle of the field and caught the ball. Now we got a bunch of little guys scuttering around the LOS.

The real story of this thread is played out last sunday....

If Alexander gets shut down the Hawks offense looks pretty weak.

IMO this was a desperate move.

I will politely disagree. As I mentioned above, this move was a luxury. If we were to pull a desperation move, we would be trading Julian Peterson for Hutch. The Seahawks offense is pass first. The passing games softens up the defense so that Alexander can take advantage of it. Alexander had no room to run on Sunday because the Hawks were experiencing some "protection problems", and Hasselbeck didn't have enough time to go through his progressions. Mack Strong had a career high in receptions because Matt had to keep dumping it off to the flat. Another receiver like Branch will hopefully spread the defense out a little more.

Good job on Hawks brass, for pulling the trigger.
