I'm not positive, but I can't ever recall it happening. It is also rare for an MVP to win the award in the final year of his contract, because typically the big players have long term contracts...

What I'm saying, is that Matt is much more valuable to us than Shaun. If you subtract Shaun from us, we can still get a decent record. You subtract Matt, and I'd be suprised if we won 5 games. All we need is a soild RB and Matt can do the rest. Matt desrves much more respect then he is given - he is the MVP on our team, not Shaun.

I'll give Matt some respect when I see him win a game, especially playoff game, all on his own. Hasselbeck by himself is nothing more than a glorifed Green Bay backup. If it weren't for the team he has around him, he'd be a nobody. Think you would have ever had a shot at the SB without Alexander? You're as crazy as the GM that might let him walk. Get ready to see Arizona take the division next year.

Oh I see what you're saying in that aspect. A Matt to Seneca drop is much worse IMO then a Shaun to Morris drop, just because of how much a QB with his experience means to an offense. But, you can not just write off what Alexander has accomplished in Seattle since being the starter there. I can't even believe that they are even considering letting him go...what else more do you want from a RB? I mean a player that had done as much as him is impossible to re-place IMO. That play action and them WR's IMO will get overly exposed without Shaun's presence back there..JMO

Yeah I didn't think so either...I can't even remember an instance where it was even considered.

Ahh. Thanks for translating. True, Hasselbeck is valuable for his knowledge and experience. I don't think he's particularly all that talented though. Wallace has a lot of potential, I expect he'll be a big name player in 3-5 years, just not in Seattle.

The point of this thread is not to say that SA is not a good RB, or that Seattle doesn't need him. All that I'm saying is that Seattle shouldn't waste 10 million of their cap on him. They shouldn't sign him right away. They should let him test the market like he wants to. He will see that 10 million is uresonable when the next best back gets 7.5. He will bring his asking price down, and then we will sign him.

I don't know, if you let him test the free agent markets, I'm sure lots of teams will be willing to spend the $10 million dollars to have the reigning MVP on their team...

Who? Which team? Which team has the cap space and the urgent need of a RB to sign him? And does SA want to be signed by that team? I don't think that Shaun wants to go to some team with 4-12 record and rebuild them. He wants a ring. And the teams that have good records - have good RBs. The Colts will likely be without a RB, but they don't have enough cap space to sign Shaun. So give one decent example of a good team, with lots of cap space, that is only in need of a good RB.

I don't know which team at this point, but I would be willing to bet a lot of money that Shaun Alexander would get signed on the free agent market...
