Who? Which team? Which team has the cap space and the urgent need of a RB to sign him? And does SA want to be signed by that team? I don't think that Shaun wants to go to some team with 4-12 record and rebuild them. He wants a ring. And the teams that have good records - have good RBs. The Colts will likely be without a RB, but they don't have enough cap space to sign Shaun. So give one decent example of a good team, with lots of cap space, that is only in need of a good RB.
the Vikings have the cap space. and believe me we would gladly give Alaxander 10 million. if the Seahawks let him test free agency i don't think he is coming back.
What about James? James will likely ask for less money, and he fits your offense very well. Plus, you have a few key free agents to sign which could use up some of that $24 million of caps space. I would say that the Vikings would go for James, as he is cheaper and fits your offense as well as Shaun would.

all i am saying is there are teams out there with the cap and the willingness to sign the MVP to big money.
As of right now, here is a list of the teams that can sign Shaun (in order of cap space) - Cleveland, Arizona, Minnesota, Green Bay, San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco, Jacksonville, Chicago, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Baltimore, Houston, Buffalo and New Orleans. Out of those teams, the ones with a winning record this year are - Minnesota, San Diego, Seattle, Jacksonville and Chicago. San Diego, Jacksonville and Chicago don't need a RB, and Minnesota would rather sign James. So the only team remaining is Seattle. That's where SA will wind up, after he lowers his asking price.
As of right now, the cap situation of many teams is not what it is going to be when the actual free agent signing period begins. A lot of teams are going to cut players, to free up cap room, and there are always ways to get around the cap if a team wants to. Also, a lot of those teams will have chances to make the playoffs next year, so he's not going to just completely eliminate them as an option. If you want to let him test the free agent market, then let him, but I will be laughing if you do, because he will be signed...
I think that Shaun Alexander is not at the top of Seattle's list of free agents. In fact - they have to think that they are going to be without him. It's obvious that Alexander wants to go somewhere else. He feels that he has reached the top of his ponential in Seattle. He wants to go somewhere where all the talk will about him - where the team will be more popular. I say let him go. Right now we need to lock up Steve Hutchitson and Rocky Benranrd - our top 2 free agents. If we can get Shaun that's fine, if he moves then that's fine too. He wants a contract that fill up our cap room, and we need that to add a few more peices to our team to go all the way. If it does come to that we have to lose SA, we can get any other RB on the market. Any RB can pile up 100 yards behind our line, so we should have no problem finding a replacement.
Saying it's cool if Alexander leaves Seattle might be the stupiedst thing I ever heard from a Seahawks fan. SA is much like LJ in Kansas City. Anybody can rush for 100 with Kc's line but LJ pushes for that little bit extra that changes the game. Alexander does a very similar for Seattle. Nobody but Alexander and LJ could do that for Seattle or Kansas City.
Do you guys remember the Eagles? They were slated to return to the Super Bowl. Why didn't they? Because of TO. He was a constant distraction to the team. The Eagles started out OK, but after losing TO it went all downhill. The same thing here. SA wants too much money. If we sign him for this much, we will have little cap room to get anything else done. If we sign him for less money, he will become TO like and be a distraction all year long. That's what I'm fearing. I don't want Seattle to collapse from within like Philly did.
The Eagles aren't the only team to fall from grace recently, and the others were for decidedly different reasons. You can either RISK collapsing due to Alexander not getting enough money, or you can fall back off the map because you don't have a good enough team to make the playoffs. To me, the choice is obvious, and Alexander is not another TO.
