Both TO and SA have the same problem - they want more money. If Alexander doesn't get the money he will be a constant distraction. Last year, he missed the rushing title by a yard and began blaming Matt for not letting him get that extra yard. So if we sign Alexander, we will have to sign hime for a lot. But if we do, that will put a serious dent in our salary cap, and we will have very little room to add other pieces to our team. Thus, I say let Alexander go, and get a cheaper back who will be just as efficient as Alexander but won't cause as big a distraction.
On another point, let's look at the Patriots and Bill Belicheck (don't know if I spelled his last name right). The Patriots got their dynasty with 4 things - a great QB, a great receiving corps, a great defense and a solid RB. Now lets look at Seattle - a great QB, a great receiving corps, a good defense and a superb RB. What we need to do is boost our defense. For that, we need to have some additional cap space. We can give up Shaun for a cheaper back, and spend our money on defense. Next, lets take a look at Belicheck. He has had a knack of releasing big-money players at just the right time. That's what is going on with SA. He's getting older. With each season he is getting more and more injuries. I believe that this was his best season, and he will not suprass his numbers on any team that he plays for next season. Thus, we should release him and pick up a younger back who still has a lot of years ahead of him. We already have one - Morris. We need to resgin him, and make him our starting back. In a season or two, he will also become as dominant as SA is.

Your defense is one of the best. There's no need to completely sacrifice the running game to boost it. Since I will never convince you of that, however, we'll just agree to disagree.

Dominick Davis is a good option for us if we lose SA, but the only thing that we can really trade to the Texans are draft picks, or some useless free agent in a sign-and-trade deal. I doubt that the Texans will want to trade Davis though, as he is a superb, young RB if given a nice O-line.

I don't mean that we need to get a bad RB just to improve our defense. All I'm saying is that we can afford to give up Shaun for a decent RB such as James, if that means taking our defense to a championship level. We will still be 2-dimensional and we will have a great defense to help our amazing offense.
Our defense is good, but it's not yet championship level. If the Texans do pick Bush, then there is a chance of us getting Davis, but they would be smarter to trade for more trade picks to improve their O-line instead of getting Bush.
