A lot of people say that without SA there is no way that we can get to the Super Bowl, but the Eagles lost TO at the most important time, and still rode great defense and a steady offense to the Super Bowl last year. That's what the Seahawks can do - they're really a great model of a Championship team.

i agree theyed be smarter to do that, but we all know that there is about an 85% chance of them taking Bush, then about 5% goes to each trading down, vince young and matt lineart
It could actually be good for both sides to ship Davis to the Seahawks. The Texans would get a few extra draft picks, and Seattle would fill its void RB spot. Of course, I've heard that the Seahawks are getting ever closer to a deal with SA, so most likely nothing like that will happen.
It seems that Seattle's salary cap isn't as glamorous as some people believe. I copied this straight from this link: <http://seahawks.scout.com/2/501286.html>
Quote:
The latest reports estimate the 2006 salary cap will be between $92 million and $95 million. If I assume $93 million, and also assume the Seahawks give tender offers to their three restricted free agents (Seneca Wallace, Wayne Hunter and Josh Brown) and their one exclusive rights free agent (Jordan Babineaux), then the Seahawks have between $18 million and $19 million in cap space. If the Seahawks make Hutchinson their franchise player at $6,983,000, that will leave $11 million to $12 million to re-sign Shaun Alexander, Rocky Bernard, Marquand Manuel, Joe Jurevicius and any new faces the team wishes to add.
Tim Ruskell and Mike Reinfeldt have their work cut out for them. The first step will be to plan for two potential worlds: The world with a new CBA and the world without.
11 to 12 million is very little money to resign SA, Bernard and other intangibles such as Jurevicius who had an outstanding year. When you look at the fact that Seattle has loads of free agents, and not just 3, it makes the situation a lot tougher for the Seahawks front office.
Mabye getting Davis wouldn't be so bad, mabye make it a complex trade and free some cap. But your right all those other guys are more important than SA alone
That's what the whole point of this thread was, to show that we don't need to make SA our top priority right now - we just can't afford him. I agree with Jayhawk Colin that we should trade some draft picks and/or useless players sitting on the bench for Davis and make him our back instead of the expensive SA.

Davis would be a great fit, but you are also going to tick off a lot of Seahawk fans if you just let Alexander walk out...

Not really, the Eagles problem from the beginning wasn't so much T.O. as it was McNabb and the hernias. Comparing a guy like T.O. to Alexander in the fact that they want more money is about the only way you can compare them. Alexander is in no way the distraction T.O. is when he wants money....T.O. goes out and causes distractions..tellin coaches not to talk to him, interviews etc......Alexander wanted more money..... then won MVP and set records. The Eagles also last year had I believe 6 pro-bowlers on IR and T.O. suspended, that's just too much to overcome.
Also, Seattle already has a nice steady D and I still can't believe I would read that a Seattle fan would want Alexander gone James and Alexander are going to go for the same amount of money, maybe more depending on who signs last and you already know what you have in Alexander..why change that?
