Don't waste money on SA
I think that Shaun Alexander is not at the top of Seattle's list of free agents. In fact - they have to think that they are going to be without him. It's obvious that Alexander wants to go somewhere else. He feels that he has reached the top of his ponential in Seattle. He wants to go somewhere where all the talk will about him - where the team will be more popular. I say let him go. Right now we need to lock up Steve Hutchitson and Rocky Benranrd - our top 2 free agents. If we can get Shaun that's fine, if he moves then that's fine too. He wants a contract that fill up our cap room, and we need that to add a few more peices to our team to go all the way. If it does come to that we have to lose SA, we can get any other RB on the market. Any RB can pile up 100 yards behind our line, so we should have no problem finding a replacement.

i agree that Seattle should not spend all their money on Alexander, but it isn't as easy as you make it seem to find another great back. he is going to want a lot of money and i say they give it to him.

Nova you're part right, Bernard and Hutch are the bigger priorities. If they have to lose those guys to keep Shaun, then they should let Shaun go. I just can't see making another SB without him, that's all...

Alexander is not the center of our offense - Hasselbeck is. Lots of people say that without Alexander we are nothing, but Matt has shown throughout the season that he can step when he is needed. A major prospect I see is Edgerin James. I don't think that he will sign with the Colts, as they have the same free agant problems as us. I think that James will fit well into our offense and shouldn't ask for as much money.

well James might not get as much money as Alaxander, but he won't come very cheap. how much money do the Seahawks have to spend? they better have a lot if you want them to sign Hutch, James and Bernard.

Well, if Shaun is out of the team that opens up loads of space that can surely fit James. And we have been planning on resining Hutch and Bernard all year long, so that should be no problem.

really i have been hearing that Seattle will have to use the franchise tag on Hutch because they won't be able to keep him.

The Seahwks have $21 million of cap space. Subtract Shaun's contract from that, and suddenly you have somewhere around 30 million. That's surely enough to get everybody resigned. Now if Alexander wants a big contract, that could make things a lot tighter for us.

if Alaxander is a free agent then his contract should already be subtracted from the Seahawks payroll, shouldn't it.

Even if it is, $21 million is enough to sign 3 people. That's 7 million a person. And if we can't get James, we still have Morris, who stepped in for SA in the Redskins game in the playoffs and played well enough, to have a solid rushing attack.
