Looks like Matt Hasselbeck will have the surgery on his non-throwing shoulder after receiving a second opinion in Alabama today. Hasselbeck went where a lot of athletes go for second opinions: to Dr. James Andrews. Andrews is the surgeon who fixed Drew Brees' dislocated throwing shoulder after last season. Brees has the Saints in the NFC title game roughly a year later.
Hasselbeck's injury is less serious and it is his non-throwing shoulder, another big difference. But he will miss some time while rehabbing from this injury. I don't have a definitive timetable for his return, but that probably depends on the individual a little bit. Hasselbeck has played with the torn labrum for three seasons (he suffered it during a January 2004 playoff game at Green Bay, presumably during that overtime coin toss).
I haven't heard when Hasselbeck will have the surgery. He could stay in Alabama and have Dr. Andrews do it, or he could come back to Seattle and schedule it here.

"I have some football left in me," he told reporters on Monday. "I still feel like I have passion for the game. ? I would like to come back, (but) you don’t ever know how (the Seahawks) feel about that. They might want to move in another direction."
Asked about Strong’s future on Monday, coach Mike Holmgren sounded like he wanted the old veteran back for another year.
"That’s totally up to Mack," Holmgren said. "He’s so important to us. When we lost him (to a neck stinger) in the game (Sunday), it affected our game."[/b]
It sounds like Mack is going to be back for another year. That is a relief. I have no idea who we would get to fill his shoes.
I like weaver as a power running tailback more than a fullback, until he proves he can be a solid blocker id rather see him with the ball. He is learning from the best so that helps, theoretically if mack retires, we have a competition between josh parry and Leonard Weaver?

Or Kirtman. Hell, he blocked for Lendale White and Reggie Bush. He's gotta have some skills.
DT Marcus Tubbs underwent microfracture knee surgery, a serious proceduce that could make it tough for him to return even for training camp. He is doing well so far, but some guys have a hard time coming back from that surgery. John Randle had it, and he did come back, but he wasn't quite the same (he was much older than Tubbs, though, so that was probably a factor). The team will look hard at the defensive line in free agency and the draft. [/b]
Ugh... That's really not good. We seriously need to draft a couple of big tackles.
Ya, we need a huge guy, who will just play first and 2nd down and we can rotate in, we rotate a ton already. Kris Jenkings is a possible Cap casualty, but he would be way too expensive and is always injured. Man i wish Wilfork wouldve fell to us in that draft. Kirtman seems to be good at everything, but great at nothing, at least thats what ive seen so far. he was only a rookie so obviously needs time to develop.
Special teams coach Bob Casullo was hired as the TB Tight Ends Coach, in turn we hired Dallas' current special teams coach to replace him
I started a seahawks draft thread in the draft forum, feel free to make some comments in there, we are probably the only people that care, especially since we dont have a 1st.
Also Adam Schefter is reporting the former falcons coach Jim Mora is going to become our Assistant Head Coach/ Defensive Backs coach. I think its a great move
