I really hope this is practically a 2 or 3 year deal. I think this will certainly help us, but i am not thrilled with the signing. DE isnt a huge need wistrom is average, fisher is solid, and tapp is coming on. Also "much needed sack specialist" is weird, because he is really a 2 way defender, not an edge rush undersized type, plus we led the league in sacks in 05 and were 4th in 06. I certainly like Kerney as a player and he should be a good locker room guy, im just worried about the cap. however realistically we have a 2-3 year window, so making this kind of signing makes sense in that context. I hope that 19.5 guaranteed doesnt mean 19.5 signing bonus, with alexander we guaranteed parts of his salary the 1st 2 seasons, which wont be prohibitive on the cap in later years. Overall good signing short term, I am worried though it could come back to bite us long term

I'm just saying your not going to find him to be that pass rush specialist that he carries the lable for.

I don't know why anyone would label him as such, but ok.

As much as I dislike Seattle, I guess if he's not going to return to Atlanta that's where I'd like him to be, because they show all the Seahawk games here so I can actually see him play just as often, if not more.

You rack up 2 seasons of double digit sacks and people expect it.

Still doesn't make sense to me. Pryce had three consecutive double digit sack seasons, yet I haven't really heard him referred to as a pass rush specialist.

Don't shoot the messenger. I'm with you but I heard it tossed around more then a few times when his name came up at the combine.

I'm not. I'm merely stating how I don't understand why he has that label. I quote your posts, because you're the only one who used the phrase 'pass rush specialist'. When I referenced Pryce, I meant generally speaking, for I've heard no one refer to him as such (or to Kerney for that matter; your post is the first I'd heard the likes of that).

I wonder what our d-line will look like in obvious passing downs, my guess is that Peterson and Tapp will be the DEs with Kerney and Fisher moving inside to DT, but Bernard is also a real solid pass rushing DT, all the sudden DE is crowded, which isnt all the big of a problem, i just wish we had a real run stuffer at DT to compliment. I dont think wistrom will be cut this year, but i think next offseason he will get cut or asked to restructure/ take a paycut

Yeah, moving Kerney to DT would be kind of silly.

Not full time, only in pash rush situations, teams do that all the time on obvious pass downs
