WHO WANTS HIM
Seahawks
Panthers?
Vikings?
Cardinals?
Alexander likely staying put
<Feb. 21> Asked about Alexander's status by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, ESPN.com's John Clayton was the bearer of good news for Seahawks fans.
"He'll end up here," Clayton said. "You're not going to see any other teams step up."
Arizona and Minnesota have the cap room to make a run at Alexander, but it's doubtful either will spend the $7 million to $8 million a year it would take to lure Alexander. Carolina, which emerged as a potential suitor for Alexander during the Pro Bowl, does not have cap room.
Alexander was Seattle's franchise player last season and, according to the terms of his contract, can't be franchised again. If he doesn't sign a new contract with Seattle before March 3, he would become an unrestricted free agent and the hottest property on the market.
Alexander led the NFL in rushing this season with 1,880 yards and set a season touchdown record with 28. His 236 rushing yards were the most in the playoffs.

I have heard that Arizona is planning on making a serious run at him when he becomes a free agent. Looking at it, Kurt Warner has proven to still have some skill when players beside him step up. They have a good group of wide receivers, and with Alexander, the only thing missing would be improving the offensive line and defense. I also heard on ESPN radio that he is asking for a $20 million dollar contract of guarenteed money...
Seahawks should have took care of Alexander a long time ago, so if they lose him then screw them. They will not be back in the Big Show without him. He's already expressed interest in Carolina, but they have money issues. Plus Carolina would have to trade Foster (who expressed that he wants to play on the west coast). I like the Arizona idea since they are in dire need of a running game and have some money to spend. It would be a shame to have a crap team in such a nice stadium next season.
This is from Fanball, I wonder how much truth is in this:

Seahawks: Cardinals showing little interest in Alexander
The News
It sounds like one team rumored to be very interested in signing Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander is not so big on the idea: the Arizona Cardinals. "A blockbuster deal in my opinion is one that eats up most of your cap space," Cardinals coach Dennis Green told the Seattle Times. "It means you get one player and one and done. And we're not going to do that. If you ask me if we're going to go after one of the incredible backs that might be available in a blockbuster deal, that probably will not happen."
Our View
The Cards need offensive line help more than the need a running back, and, for some reason, they still have confidence in J.J. Arrington. We still think there's a good shot that Alexander will re-sign with the Seahawks.
Well either way someone is going to have to budge. If the Cardinals don't want him, then Shaun Alexander is either going to have to go somewhere else, possibly a losing team, or lower his asking price. If the Seahawks want to sign him they are going to have to offer him more. He is going to play in the NFL next year, it is just a question of who caves in first...
I think he has to meet half way (with anyone) especially with the way the league views RB's at this time, it's going to be something IMO that tapers off with the way teams pay RB's....Although I see Seattle signing him back, but for less then what he's asking.

foster is a free agent, he is a transition player, but a FA nonetheless
