Default Texans trade Babin to Seattle for Boulware

Texans trade Babin to Seattle for Boulware | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

The Texans traded defensive end Jason Babin to Seattle today for safety Michael Boulware.

Babin, a former no. 1 draft choice, had a good training camp and preseason, but the Texans have been desperate because of injuries at safety.

The Texans lost Glenn Earl early in training camp.

Rookie Brandon Harrison suffered a severely pulled hamstring in practice today and could be placed on injured reserve.

Starters C.C. Brown and Jason Simmons are playing with bruised shoulders.

Boulware has been a regular starter for the Seahawks.

He covers well and is an effective pass rusher.

I think that Babin was a lot to give up, he was only 27 a 1st round pick that was playing not too bad for them. Boulware is about the same age and the Texans were desperate for a Safety.

I think it was a good trade. The Texans need help in the secondary.. we needed a FS alot more than a SS, but Boulware is still an upgrade. Babin looks like he is poised to break out soon, so I think seattle got a good deal...since they werent really high on Boulware anymore.

Babin, to us, was not worth THAT much. He has been streaky.. and has never played at a starter's level. A change of scenery/scheme may do him alot of good..because he DOES have the physical tools to be effective as a pass rushing DE.

So basically.. losing Babin didnt hurt us, but getting Boulware helped us. While for Seattle, losing Boulware didnt hurt them, but getting Babin helped. So..good trade for both sides. Enjoy Babin .. get ready for all your "not-quite-as-big-of-a-fan" friends to ask you who the hell that guy is with all the Tattoos.

Jason Babin was one of the worst moves in recent NFL memory. The fact they gave up on him after all they gave up to get him in the 1st place is hilarious.

Testudo.. he has been an adequate backup..and an adequate pass rush specialist. Which means.. no..he isnt a superstar.

As far as us "giving up on him after giving up so much".. we changed coaching staffs last season ya ignorant ***.

that and they were in a desperate situation for a S, the fact that they could get Boulware was big in itself, Im sure that they didn't want to give up on Babin, they were just in a bind and did a pretty good job of getting out of it

Worst moves in history? I can name two from just my Saints that beat that move into the dirt...Jonathon Sullivan/Ricky Williams, traded two firsts for Tub of Goo, and a draft and a half for Sticky Icky Ricky.
