KIRKLAND -- Shaun Alexander will not play Sunday when the Seahawks host the Chicago Bears at Qwest Field, coach Mike Holmgren said Friday.
"I told Shaun, until he can practice the whole week, then I'm not going to put him in the field," Holmgren said after practice.
Alexander has not practiced this week, and got only a few reps in practice last Saturday, because of the left knee he sprained in the loss to the Browns in Cleveland two weeks ago.
"I tried to explain, with running backs, that you need to be able to do what you do, and if you're worried about an injury or something's sore ... you really are open to more injuries," Holmgren said. "So I'm not going to put him on the field until he can do what he does."
With Alexander out, Maurice Morris is expected to start against the Bears.
