Holmgren will decide future once season ends

It's hard to miss when you walk into Mike Holmgren's office, the large framed photo of a much-younger coach being hoisted upon the shoulders of Green Bay Packers' players as confetti swirls around his head in the moments after their Super Bowl victory in 1997.
It's a telling image, a triumphant point in time for a man who has devoted much of his life to building football franchises for the chance to achieve such glory.
Holmgren has since become the architect of a similar football resurrection here, raising the Seahawks to a new level of success. The only thing missing from his Seattle experience is the trophy, the confetti moment, the city going silly around him.
But time is running out on Holmgren, who'll turn 60 in June. He's got the Seahawks in the postseason for a fifth consecutive year, heading to Green Bay on Saturday for a divisional playoff game where his team is an eight-point underdog.
It's fair to wonder if this is the last go for the Big Show in Seattle. He has one year remaining on his Seahawks coaching contract, but says he'll sit down with his wife, Kathy, and have a long discussion about his future when this season ends.
Holmgren looks at the picture on the wall and acknowledges the one remaining item on his Seattle checklist.
"I'm pushing hard for this one, trying to get back there this year," he said. "I think you do that when you kind of know you've had more games behind you than you've got in front of you."
Holmgren sounds like a man nearing a crossroad. He and Kathy sold their house on Mercer Island in the past year and now live in a Kirkland condo just blocks from team headquarters.
He's said that move was a matter of downsizing with his four daughters all now grown. Kathy says he loves the shorter commute and it was time for a change.
"We're thinking of the future," she said.
