Faulk was a great player, but now he is more useful as a mentor. If he is going to come back that would be his main use, or as a thrid down receiver out of the backfield. He should just hang them up now.

He already stated in a article a few weeks ago that he has no plans on retiring. But he said this will be his last season.

Sadly the league has become way to stat driven. Marshall will never put up those insane numbers again, but thats alright as long as you can still help your team and have the drive to play football no NFL coach is going to refuse him.

The decesion is all up to him, he knows his role and that is why he is a great player and person. Hes not staying past his prime to limp past a record. So, I find nothing wrong with any decision he makes.

The status of running back Marshall Faulk's football future probably will be determined in the next week to 10 days, according to his agent, St. Louis-based Rocky Arceneaux.

"He's going to be evaluated again, and that's when the decision will be made," Arceneaux said Monday.

At issue is the condition of Faulk's knees, both of which underwent arthroscopic surgery in the offseason following Faulk's 12th year in the NFL and seventh with the Rams. One knee has responded, but the other has been slow to recover. Arceneaux said another operation might be required.
