You should see his kickoff return for a TD it really showed how well he sees the field. I'll have to post that video. One of my favorite runs he had was actually only for a 4yard gain in his teams Jamboree. He was hit in backfield, shook the tackler off, stiff armed the next kid, the 1st kid that tried to tackle him tried AGAIN and failed, my son lost his son and was tackled.

What routes are there in to big time football ?

As a soccer fan from the UK (who is trying to take a bigger interest in Football) I know all about 8 year olds getting picked up by Barcelona, Manchester Utd etc - but could a NFL team do the same thing to a promising youngster?

No... if they did that would be unprecedented. Besides, football is so unpredictable anyway and who's to say his son still even wants to play when he's 20?

In baseball, on the other hand, teams can sign free agents starting from 16.

Sure, it is a risk I suppose to take on young talent as their bodies have so much time to change, maybe for the worst. Lets face it though, for what it would cost to have youth development, it could surely pay off in the long run.
