Former Trinity Catholic football star Rudell Small was cleared of drug charges and welcomed back to the Jacksonville University football program today, but a teammate may be in hot water.
Small was arrested Thursday night in his dorm room and charged with possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, according to a story by the Florida Times-Union. He was suspended from the football program and missed Saturday's game against Davidson.
Small, who won the starting running back job at JU and scored five touchdowns in the team's first win of the season two weeks ago, told the Star-Banner today that JU head coach Kerwin Bell hired a private investigator to look into the incident and discovered that backup running back Cecil Coltrane hid the drugs in Small's room. Small said Coltrane has admitted to the allegation.
