the HD box from DirectTV has it's own hard drive, it is DVR from directTV. I loved OnDemand, I had it before directTV with timewarner, it had the same menu and look of RCN and Comcast, I loved OnDemand, so many movies whenever and Documentaries were awesome. The HD package was weak though. In fact, the only thing I miss from cable is the OnDemand, it was the best thing about cable hands down.

The DVR is accessible through your menu like you were picking a chanell, you just choose your playlist and pick the show you recorded. You can record something once, or record it every time it's on. You only have to find it once and it will automatically save the rest. It is really easily managed.

NFL Network should not be a channel you got to pay for. It should be treated like FOX/NBC/CBS that cover the games, why is the NFL making us pay X amount? It's either I'd get for 25 a month or my area can't get it for it's one of those cable channels that won't take it. My football should not be on NFL Network, man, if they put playoffs/superbowl on NFL Network, they'll lose a huge fortune. The 10million for Dallas' game (minus the 2/3 audience plus you add computer audience) doesn't make a dent to a Pats 27 million fans game on CBS I believe. NFL should have taken consideration, and that's why they pony up to Sprint to show it on NFL.com.

ANd I don't want DirectTV, they don't give you channels you want like the International Film Channel, Turner, BBC America. It's satellite with no channels, and I don't think they do local channels.

the DVR rocks on Direct TV! The only thing I miss from cable is the On Demand..but from what I was told by a DTV rep is they are working on it for Sattelite so we should have it soon.

That's not true...I have all those channels on the basic package. and they DO have local channels as well plus your local area sports teams. And I get 200 basic channels for $50/mo plus DVR. The movie channels are cheaper than cable too..instead of paying $20 or more a month the avarege is $12/mo per package. I'm currently getting HBO and Max for $13/mo for three months. It's cheaper than cable and the picture quality is ten times better! It rocks!

Yeah, I have DirecTV and I have every one of those channels... I have a regular tube tv and a crystal clear picture... so I don't know what DirecTV you had, but someone ripped you off.
