Every benchmark I can remember seeing showed better results with a Sempron 3100+ than any Barton chip; including the 3200+
I didn't know there were any nForce2 boards for 64-bit chips either

like I said, this is all about the saving of money. I'd rather buy myself an Athlon M instead of my XP. . This is a cheapie system for my friend to upgrade from his Athlon 1200.

Oh, I see, you're looking at the 32-bit Semprons. I thought you were looking for a cheap 64-bit setup.
That link to the combo at TigerDirect looks fine for the price. It's certainly no enthusiast set-up, but for the price and increase from the older system I don't think he'll complain.

He's talking about the 32-bit Thouroughbred B Semprons, not the 3100+. That chip is faster than the Bartons, but it requires a socket 754 board, so its price is rather steep.
Get a Mobile 2200+ for like $50, its cheap and will overclock in the future when u need too.

I'd already caught onto that Tony

I'd been looking at the 3100+, so I kind of forgot the 32-bit lineup existed
