how about posting the HP model number?

that way we can figure out what generation AGP port you have. different AGP revisions have slightly different slots

if the CPU fan had really failed he would be noticing other problems. but im pretty sure my dell's cpu fan isn't connected to the mobo , so HP could be the same.

though a geforce4 would be a huge upgrade over the IG, i don't think an HP case has enough fans to keep it (and the cpu) running cool.

.02 and good luck

Wasn't that like the "budget" nVidia card about 3 years ago?

I guess that's alright, if all the gaming you do is solitaire

For the price it ran back then, you could get something like an X600 or 6600 and see a good amount of improvement. However, I haven't really followed much on either of them, so I don't know if they provide enough bang for the buck. From my experience, get a Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 Pro. That's some awesome value for my "other" computer
i can play counter strike with no lag... its fine in there... i can see through some walls and crates, but its all good, shootin through stuff and killin people
